Manual Osteopathy
Osteopathy was founded by Dr. Andrew Still at 10 am June 22, 1874. In Canada, one may encounter DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) or DOMP (Osteopathic Manual therapist or practitioner). Both American osteopathic physicians and European osteopaths call themselves DOs. American practitioners are Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, and European practitioners have a Diploma in Osteopathy. Doctors of Osteopathy is a restricted title to those belonging to the Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons. (aacom.org).
Manual Osteopathy is a medicine-free, gentle, non-invasive, low-force, and pain-free form of manual therapy that focuses on the health of the whole body, mind, and spirit. There are no investigations (Blood work, X-ray, CT scan, etc.) & no prescription, OM therapist uses his/ her hands for assessment and treat symptoms by manipulating body structure and allow the body to self-heal, using a variety of techniques. These techniques may include Osteoarticular, Visceral manipulation, Advance Myofascial remodeling, Craniosacral therapy, & Manual Lymphatic drainage. Manual Osteopathy restores proper body mechanics, nerve impulses, and the circulation of body fluids by removing restrictions throughout the body.
No health treatment is free of potential side effects, whereas, after a manual osteopathy session patient feels immediate relief but some experience soreness, or mild to moderate fatigue which fades within 24 to 48 hours.

Thermography
Thermography is a non-contact, non-invasive procedure which captures and records temperature variations on the skin. The skin is the body’s most intelligent organ and is “wired” with a communication network connecting all other organs and physiological processes in the body. The skin responds to physiological changes and a thermography device observes those changes.
The unique contribution of thermography is that it shows physiological and metabolic processes. By comparison, tests such as ultrasound, x-ray and mammography show the body’s structure or anatomy looking for structural changes. By looking at how the body is functioning and by helping to identify what is stressing the body, thermography provides unique information that your health practitioner may use along with other tests to evaluate your health.
Clinically, thermography is a test of physiology that relies on the sympathetic nerve control of skin blood flow and the ability of the sympathetic nervous system to respond to and react to pain, pathology, injury or dysfunction anywhere in the body. Inflammatory response and inflammation-associated diseases, which create a thermal pattern, visually detected with thermography, is globally recognized as the number one health issue in the world
Being able to see the early onset of a possible disease process before it becomes a medical problem is essential to living a long and healthy life.
Thermography is an important imaging tool for a preventative and participatory approach to the pursuit of wellness. By providing an image of the status of inflammation throughout the body, thermography helps guide us to the areas in the body that are asking for help; often times before symptoms manifest and before traditional tests or other imaging techniques (which look for structural or anatomical changes) can detect a possible problem.
By providing unique information on our current status of health, thermography has a valuable role as a complementary tool to other medical technologies. By allowing us to visualize the current state of health, thermography is a motivational tool for patients to adopt a more proactive approach to health and wellness.
Thermal Imaging is a technology that measures body temperature extremely accurately. The circulatory system is a supply line, delivering everything that the body needs to function efficiently. It is in constant metabolic movement – warming, oxygenating, carrying nutrients to every organ, removing waste, protecting and healing, and stabilizing the body’s temperature.
When the body needs healing, the system increases the flow of blood to the site – creating heat. If a specific organ is in distress, even mild distress, blood will be automatically re-directed from the surface to supply extra nutrients to the organ. This creates a cooler area on the skin. Because there is a map of the area of the skin that is directly related to each specific organ, thermography allows us to identify the source of the potential problem. On its own, thermography is not diagnostic for any specific disease, but it can alert us to regions and conditions which need further investigation—it prioritizes areas which should be examined.
So patterns, whether they represent expected, warmer or cooler temperatures, are valuable information to practitioners knowledgeable about thermal physiology.
Thermography has great potential to assess injury and to prevent serious injury for athletes and non-athletes. Increased blood perfusion, which is a functional response to injury, can alert the patient, trainer or physician to a potential major problem (if it is not addressed before the injury becomes a major issue). Thermography is the best technology to measure the resulting changes in heat and localized temperatures.
In sports medicine, thermography has been applied in injury prevention and in monitoring muscle recovery after exercise. Since muscle injuries trigger inflammatory processes which generate heat, the level and source of inflammation can be measured by evaluating the resulting temperature differences and vascular patterns in thermal images. For human athletes, overuse reactions are frequent, and the early detection and localization of inflammation is a critical step in determining the appropriate treatment, including identification of the source of cases of referred pain. In veterinary medicine, thermography has been used to detect locomotion injuries in racehorses and to monitor their health status.
The skin not only protects us from the outside world, but it is a functioning endocrine organ on its own! It produces all hormones and communicates with all organs and biologic processes in the body. How perfect that we are observing the skin and its response to hormonal and other endocrine processes. It is the body’s ultimate communication with the outside world, all there for us to observe with our infrared camera!
Spinal Flow Technique
There is an innate wisdom inside every human body to restore, allay and mend itself. Just as our gut digests our food and our hair grows, our bodies know how to heal by harnessing the nervous system.
Spinal blockages are like static interference for our master controller – the spine and nervous system – which can block the flow of our body’s aptitude to heal itself.
Spinal Flow Technique® helps locate blockages that cause symptoms like pain or illness by making contact with the 33 access points of the spine to allow healing to happen.
Certified Spinal Flow® Technique practitioners understand how to effectively assess and enable the body to connect to the ease that exists within.
The 33 access points are located mostly on the sacrum and cranium, where the dura mater is closest to external touch. Making contact with these access points sends a message to the brain to release spinal blockages.
There are three most common forms of stress that are stored as spinal blockages. Emotional stress from past traumas, chemical stress from the foods we eat and the products that surround us and physical stress from accidents, postural strain or sustained sitting lead to blockages.
Spinal Flow Technique uses touch, palpation, anatomical postural assessments and the 7 gateways of the spine to help locate spinal blockages.
All certified practitioners learn the art of touch, palpation and other techniques to find and release spinal blockages, as well as the key assessments and tests.
Spinal Flow Technique practitioners learn how to communicate with clients so they can identify the layers of stress and how long they have been stored in the body.
Spinal Flow® can help with many symptoms & issues, including: back pain, stiff neck, fibromyalgia, headaches & migraines, anxiety & depression, low self esteem, sleep issues, fatigue, scoliosis, sciatica, gynaecological issues, digestive issues (IBS, constipation), neurological issues, asthma.
Children can really benefit from Spinal Flow as it has no contra-indications and is a very gentle touch based body therapy. It can help with colic, reflux, ear infections, difficulty feeding (breastfeeding), turning head, eczema, settling issues, sleep issues, irritability and digestive issues.
It is also a beautiful technique to support mother’s to be, from wanting to conceive to childbirth and post-partum.
